• During Britain’s medieval times, a suitor left a hawthorn branch at a lady’s door to propose to her. If she left it were he placed it, she accepted. Is she replaced it with a cauliflower, he was out of luck.

• A groom offers his future father-in-law a whale’s tooth in Fiji to symbolize wealth and status.

• People in Bermuda place a tiny sapling on the top of their wedding cake. When the wedding is over, they take it home and plant it. Why? To watch it grow with their marriage.

• Queen Victoria forbid her children to marry in the month of May? Why? It was considered bad luck in Victorian times. The odd thing was that the Queen celebrated her birthday in May. However, weddings and birthdays are two completely different matters.
