Mothers will do what they have to in order to take care of their children. Show Mom you love her before it's too late.

Sometimes in our busy lives we tend to forget the most important things. What with working and raising a family of our own we fail to stop and smell the roses so to speak. There are many people in our everyday lives who mean a lot to us but none as important as our family. We need to stop everything for a while and pay tribute to the one member of our family who has done so much for us. Our Mothers!

In my younger days I recall my mother doing the duties of three or four people. Coming from a family of thirteen kids, I did my part under the direct supervision of my mother. We lived on a farm so there was much to do and many mouths to feed. There was cooking, cleaning, canning, butchering, and mother also went to the fields with my father to plow, cultivate, and plant seed. Then there was hay to haul into the barn, along with harvest the crops when it was time. We also had a large garden and mother helped us weed, hoe, plow and pick vegetables. It just seemed there was never enough hours in the day. We sold eggs and fresh dressed fryers (we butchered and cleaned about 300 each summer). As I look back today I often wonder how she ever did it.

Mothers will do what they have to in order to take care of their children. There are many avenues of help available for mothers when they are in a desperate situation and don't know where to turn. Instinct tells them they must take care of the children first and foremost. Money does not buy the memories and love they have given us so we owe it to her to give at least a small portion of that back to her. Can you find a spot in your heart for her everyday? I can. If you try hard enough, you can too. She is very special and precious to us.

If you have a mother and haven't seen her for a while, go visit her. Call her up. Invite her to visit you. Anything it takes just to let her know you still love her. Well, what are you waiting for for goodness sake? We are in this world for but a short while, don't wait until it is too late. Let them know they mean the world to you and that she is not a burden to have around. Age does things to them that they cannot control but they are still our mothers so we need to keep reminding ourselves of that. Remember, she would never have turned you away when you needed help. When we were growing up, she was there for us 24/7 in a lot of cases. Can we give her just a few hours or a few days? I am sure it would mean a lot to her.

I just came home from a visit with my mother. I enjoyed a nice visit and I gave her a big kiss and hug. Have you hugged your mother lately? She is waiting patiently. It doesn't have to be mothers Day. She will invite you in any day of the week at any hour of the day, because that is what mothers do.

In life you will only have one mother and she should always be remembered. You want her to know how much you love her now, not wonder if she ever knew. Mothers are there for you through thick and thin, and love you no matter what you do. Make sure your mom has a great Mother’s Day and keep the tradition flowing.

I know that my mother wasn't the only mother who worked hard but she is my idol and is a good example of a dedicated mother. Now I think it is time to salute all of the moms out there who have spent the better part of their lives helping others. They certainly deserve a lot more credit than we give them most of the time.

You hear of people multitasking on the computer or on the job, but none of those compare even a little to the multitasking of a stay at home mother. Not all mothers worked in the fields or washed clothes on a washboard and in a wringer washer with a baby on her hip, but they were there for us and they made sure we had food in our tummies and clothes on our backs. How many nights did they sit by our beds when we were sick and still have breakfast ready when we got up in the morning. And when I say breakfast, I mean eggs, sausage or bacon, pancakes, hash-browns (and not out of a box or package), along with fresh homemade biscuits and gravy. When and if she ever got sick, we didn't know it because she performed her duties as normal. With a baby on one hip and expecting another one, and stirring the gravy too. If that doesn't deserve respect, I don't know what would.

Our mothers had a very big part in making us what we are today and so often never ask for anything in return. I appreciate everything my mother did for me and that even means the whippings I got because I deserved them. I turned out to be a better person for it and I hold no ill feelings toward her for them. She loved us all very much and still does and if I had my childhood to do over, I would want her for my mother again! One day she won't be here anymore but her memory will live on forever. She touched the hearts of many in her lifetime but most of all, I am glad she touched mine.

Many will go about their busy lives and never give their mother a thought. Maybe they didn’t have the pleasure of being with their mother like I did so there are hard and mixed feelings that need to be dealt with before it is too late. Then there are those who have lost their mothers but have memories in their hearts that will forever be there. On the days when we need help, we still turn to our mothers in our minds and decide what we need to do according to how she would havedone it.

We always said when we grew up we weren’t going to be like our mothers but somehow we end up like them in a lot of ways anyway. We do change as we grow up but many things our mothers did are buried in us and we catch ourselves saying something she said or acting like her in some way. It s not intentional, it is just bred in us. We just cannot seem to help ourselves. But I for one can say that I am glad some of it rubbed off because now I can see it in my children. History certainly does repeat itself. Wonder how much of it came from my grandmother?? Probably more than we will ever know. And I am not just talking about our looks. It is what is inside us that counts.

Our mothers helped us for many years so now it is time for us to help them. Many times just a visit means a lot to them. Have you visited your mom lately? Remember all of the times she was there for you. Don’t you think we owe her at least a little of our time. I imagine she would appreciate a flower too. Or just an “I love you” would mean the world to them. How long has it been since you told her you love her and thanked her for being your mother. Maybe take her to dinner and a movie. Or on a picnic in the park. It doesn’t have to be on Mothers Day if you have other obligations, but just do it. Surprise her, they always like surprises. She will remember it for a long time and love you for it. They don't ask for much. Give them your love and a little attention once in a while. After all you had theirs for a long time.

Mothers should have our utmost respect for their unconditional love and devotion they have instilled on us. There will never be a way to repay them for all they have done for us. I am very indebted to my mother and will be forever grateful for all of the hours she dedicated to the rearing of me and my siblings. She has taught me respect, honor, honesty, loyalty, and strength, just to name a few of the important things it takes to get through this world. I could think all day and never quote all of the things our mothers taught us.

Many working mothers in this era are also to be commended for juggling their schedules to be with their children as much as possible. We cannot forget them. They are in many cases working because it is a necessity to make a living. Whether they are single mothers raising their children on their own or married with children. The children need our attention no matter what the situation we have found ourselves in. Many times it is hard to make ends meet but no matter what, the children have to be fed and clothed and have a roof over their heads.
